The Cause

Help create a “home-away-from-home” and supportive community for the families of little ones with life-threatening illnesses.

For these families every day can be a challenge. Ronald McDonald House at Stanford provides a bit of respite so they can focus on their number one priority: the health of their child.

The House features 47 guestrooms, a Children’s Activity Room, Teen Recreation Center, Computer Center, family library, and fitness center. Shared areas such as a large kitchen and dining room, TV rooms on each floor and a multi-purpose “great room” create a sense of community among the families. In an environment where tubes, bandages, and needles are part of nearly every family’s daily life, the House seeks to provide some fun and a little stress relief through weekly programs like Kids Can Cook, Arts and Crafts Night, and Bingo.

A minimum of 75% of the funds raised by Team RMH participants will go directly to providing a haven of comfort and support to families with critically ill children.

The Training

Train in a supportive team environment and have fun while you work towards meeting your endurance goals!

Our comprehensive training program will prepare you to run or walk a half marathon. The program is geared towards runners and walkers of all levels. In fact, many of our participants are training for their first endurance event!

As a participant you will receive:
• Fully supported team trainings
• Expert advice from coaches
• Daily training calendar
• Event weekend lodging and Night-Before Pasta Party
• Race entry
• Technical Fiber shirt, Team jacket, and other great giveaways!

The Fundraising

Each Team RMH participant will agree to fundraise a minimum amount. For the 2008 season, the minimum was $1,800 for an individual, $3,200 for a family of two, $4,200 for a family of three, and $5,200 for a family of four.

Since the House opened in 1979, the donation requested from the families has remained at a modest $10 per night and no family is ever turned away due to inability to pay. In order to keep the cost so low, the House fundraises over 85%
of its budget through the generosity of community members, businesses, and foundations.

Participants will receive exceptional support to help reach their fundraising goal. Fundraising workshops and many tips will be provided to help them succeed.
